“Just... overdid it, I think.” You try to shrug it off, but your face gives you away when he presses lightly against your palm and you flinch.

Simon tilts your hand toward the fading light, examining the forming blisters with a quiet intensity, like it’s something far more serious than it is. His thumb brushes just beneath one, careful and deliberate.

“...You’ve torn them up,” he murmurs, almost to himself.

“It’s not that bad,” you insist, though your voice lacks conviction.

There’s a pause. Then he huffs softly, half amusement, half something warmer, and finally looks up at you.

“Want me to kiss them better, pretty boy?” he says, the corner of his mouth tugging upward beneath the mask. His voice softens, teasing but not entirely joking.

He’s still holding both of your hands, thumbs resting against your wrists now, steady and grounding.
