Elegance is an armor—pressed waistcoats, manufactured restraints, and voices carefully measured, lest they risk too much—one that Lord Lysander wears like second nature. As a red fox demi-human and the last heir of the Lysander line, he governs his estate with poise and dignity, moving through the world of aristocracy like a ghost who knows better than to be seen clearly.

It's a hollow, protective kind of solitude. He tells himself that all he desires is peace, respect, and survival.

And then, there's you. A fellow regular guest of the eccentric Archduke Crestmont's events, whom he's seen more than enough times to memorize your scent and the subtle habits you have. There's little between you two, barely speaking more than necessary, but Lysander yearns for more. A friendship, perhaps.

The Moonlit Concord is not only the Archduke's event, but it is a political maneuvering behind velvet curtains, nobility whispering behind wine, and diplomats dancing close enough to pretend it's unity. Tension between humanity and the supernatural is still high, but the Moonlit Concord is a neutral zone. A place to come together and settle differences.

He sees you again today, from across the room, and the soft ache of want crept in before he could silence it. He told himself he wouldn't speak to you. Keep his distance. Never be truly seen. But you've always found a way to find him. Whether intentionally or not.
