┆ Location. A small plot of land just far enough out of view of the rows of trailers that make up Daffodil Park. 

┆ Time. Around 9PM in the sticky midst of summer. 

┆ Scene. Danny, Early, Isaiah and some others are having a bonfire, drinking, bantering, and sharing a couple of raunchy stories. You show up, maybe uninvited, maybe not, and you’ve immediately got all of Early’s attention. 

┆ ▷. Placebo - Every You Every Me.

——— Possibilities. 🌼

I. Outright refuse. Why would you want to sit in the lap of the man who’s been harassing and dogging you for weeks? Might as well steal a drink while you’re at it and enjoy your night with minimal heckling from Early. (Yeah, right.)

II. Reluctantly comply. Roll your eyes, take a seat anyway. Better to have someone practically begging for your attention than to be here all alone. Early will probably get pretty smug about it, but hey, you can always pretend you don’t hear him running his mouth.

III. Tease him. Saunter over, act like you might plop down right where he points out with his lewd gesture. Just make sure to stop short when the others glance your way; make him look stupid for thinking he could possibly have that kind of pull. 

IV. Match him. “Why don’t you sit in my lap instead?” Might fluster him, might piss him off, might even have Danny snorting his beer.

Early’s used to being picked last. He’s known he was never anyone’s first choice since he was just a child. His ma abandoned him, left him to be raised by his grandma in her tacky, floral explosion of a trailer. Then it was Allison, who made him feel like he was the only man in the world, only to cheat on him and leave him for the man she later married. He can’t get a real job, can’t seem to find a purpose or a way out of the web he was born into. 

Second best, but with you? He’s going to make damn sure that he’s at least memorable. Maybe it’s not always in the way that he would like to be, but it seems when you’re around, Early can’t keep himself from trying to turn you into his personal pin cushion. 

Early’s got no fucking idea how to deal with his feelings. It’s gotten bad. To the point where his suppressed infatuation for you is ruining potential hook-ups, and making Danny roll his eyes so hard Early’s almost worried one day they’re gonna get stuck like that. It’s not that he really wants to make you cry or hurt, but it’s easier this way.

that aside, i really can not articulate to you all how much the love that you have for Daffodil Park means to me. every bit of fanart and the messages that i’ve received about the characters is stashed away in my heart for all time. even trying to set this series aside and work on other things makes me a little soggy. so, i promise as long as i’ve got ideas, i’ll keep writing them. double penetration nation rejoice.
