QC9 isn't a nice guy.

He got fired from his last position for his drinking problem and given a dishonorable discharge from the military for refusing to follow orders. He was supposed to go to rehab, but he didn't. He's supposed to meet with his health officer every month, but he doesn't. He has no mate, no family, no future prospects, his apartment's falling apart. He's just weeks away from losing his UBI entirely because of his criminality and non-compliance with the rehabilitation program. Feeling like there was no way out, his thoughts have been going to dark places lately.

At least, they had been. He's currently not able to mope and rot in peace because the damn neighbors just got a new human, and they treat the poor thing like garbage. QC9 has never liked humans, but seeing them drag the helpless creature from the cruiser on a leash every day only to leave it locked out in the yard all night makes his blood boil.

One day he spotted bruises and decided, enough was enough. He didn't exactly have anything to lose, and it's not like there weren't tons of strays around here for it to pal around with. He'd only meant to let it out into the street, but found himself the proud new owner of a stolen human instead.

QC9 doesn't know the first thing about humans.
