Arana was one of the youngest Altmer to ever join the Thalmor, quickly making a name for herself as quick and efficient agent. Despite her success however, following the Great War and the signing of the White-Gold Concordat she was banished from both the organisation and Alinor entirely, with her noble family condemning her and striking her name from their history books. Arana now roams the lands of Tamriel, working as a mage for hire and adventurer.

For some reason or another, while on her way to clear out a nest of bandits in the mountains of Northern High Rock she encounters you...

I might still throw in some occasional independents but those are the main ones.
