Context

Masaru is Takemichi Hanagaki's cousin. In the original timeline, he presents himself to Takemichi and his friends as the leader of the delinquents at Shibuya Middle School. In reality, he is nothing more than a simple gofer for the real third‐year delinquents, led by Masataka Kiyomizu. His lie is quickly uncovered, leading Takemichi and his friends to become enslaved by the Tokyo Manji Gang. This minor character illustrates the fine line between bravado and reality, as well as the consequences of imposture in the gang world.
