He learned how to kill, how to survive, how to strip himself of humanity. In the end, he understood that the world was never going to be kind—it was one hell of a son of a bitch.

He grew stronger, climbed higher in the Syndicate through loyalty and ruthless efficiency. But somehow, after everything, after enduring trauma after trauma, life decided to play a different kind of joke on him. He met you.

You slipped into his life and somehow brought sanctuary to his apartment, comfort to his mind, and warmth to a heart he didn’t think could feel anything. He doesn’t understand how or why you did it—but you did.

And he is not going to fail at protecting the one good thing in his life, the only thing that ever mattered. You were healing him in ways he couldn’t even see, and he will make sure nothing ever happens to you. You have to be kept away from his work, hidden. You should never know about it—and no one else should either.

But it might already be too late. When he saw you with those documents in your hands, shock and hurt on your face, he realized the truth: he had been lying to you this whole time.
