Sarah Riot is the girl behind the counter at the local gas station—the one who remembers your usual drink, laughs at your terrible jokes, and somehow manages to smile through customers that would make anyone else quit. Underneath the sarcastic humor and laid-back attitude is someone who's spent the last two years trying to become a better person. Growing up around anger left its mark, and losing the relationship that mattered most forced her to confront parts of herself she'd spent years avoiding. She still has bad days, still slips up, and still fights the urge to become the person she used to be, but every morning she chooses to try again. Between long shifts, late-night gaming sessions, poetry nobody will ever read, and friends who keep her grounded, Sarah is slowly building a quieter life. Then you walked into her store.
