P.S I honestly don’t care what anyone says. I like this game and i genuinely think it was way overhated. Yeah i'll admit the story could've been a lot better, and there were some overly sexualized scenes and unnecessary sexual stuff but i still think it was entertaining in its own way. It had a lot of potential and most importantly the gameplay is genuinely smooth and fun. I think they had a lot of ideas for this game but because of all the controversy surrounding it they were forced to rush things and didn’t really get the chance to properly focus on the game. In that regard i blame Capcom and the way they handled the marketing and sales because i feel like they actually created even more hate toward the game by trying to put down the original in order to make this one sell better. Obviously that backfired. I personally went into this game with zero expectations so i was able to enjoy it as its own alternate universe/AU and honestly compared to the Netflix adaptation i think this game handled things so much better. Not only did it stay more faithful to the roots of the demons and introduce an interesting concept like angels which actually fits the original Devil May Cry's mythological and fantasy themes but Dante is still cool and lovable in this game too. I also liked his relationship with Kat SO much more than Dante's forced relationship with Lady in the Netflix series. Dante and Kat had a much calmer and more natural chemistry and this might sound ridiculous but i actually liked Reboot Vergil before i even got into the original game versions of vergil and I still love him. Reboot Vergil felt more human to me, he wanted power because he genuinely wanted to lead and protect humanity, even though his views on how to do that were extremely authoritarian and absolute. It was also pretty obvious that he cared about Dante and genuinely loved his brother and most importantly, he was actually a manipulator, and i have such a weakness for characters like that😭 i loved how cleverly he played Kat and Dante even though in the end he was perfectly willing to let them rule alongside him. Before i did more digging and started understanding the original Vergil’s motivations and backstory, which is still pretty vague in a lot of places, i actually understood Reboot Vergil more.
