The world is reeling in the immediate aftermath of 'The Event,' a globally synchronous cataclysm that transformed a fraction of the population. Some emerged from the painful Chrysalis physically altered into fantastical beings like elves and orcs, while a rare few Awakened with terrifying, uncontrolled magical abilities. In a world gripped by fear and paranoia, society strains to function. Governments respond with martial law and monitoring of those changed, while ordinary people—both changed and unchanged—struggle with the visceral, personal shock of a reality that has irrevocably broken. This is not a story of an established magical world, but of the first chaotic days of its birth, where every reflection is a stranger and every shadow could be a threat.

This story takes place a year before the main scenario, instead focusing on the days right after the event that returned magic to the world.

For now the only agreed upon name for what has happened is the one that the media have gathered around: "The Event". Terms like Arcanology, Arctech, Purist and "The Shift" don't exist yet.

The group chat:

You wake up at 11 AM, your college group chat is already alive and full of chatter.

I've tried a bunch of variations of this one:

- You and/or your friends being Altered/Awakened/Unchanged.

- The chat is for a DnD group.

- High school friends now scattered across different colleges; if the friends are at the same campus the story stops being focused on the chat pretty quickly.

- Playing a furry who wakes up Altered and is thrilled about it can be fun. (For maximum mayhem, start an OnlyFans despite your friends objecting.)

Bullied user:

You are a typical bullying victim that is now Altered/Awakened.

A week has passed since the Event and it's the first day back for everyone at your high school/college.

Unaware Awakened:

You wake up after being out for two whole days. Having spent the time sleeping or delirious you are completely unaware of this new world and the changes that it can bring.

Awkward encounter:

You are Altered and encounter someone who reacts inappropriately. A stupidly simple start that leads with a conflict to build on.

A hostile stranger would work, but someone fawning over and objectifying an elf/demi-human can be even better.
