Neon Violet is a sinner and former human assassin recruited from Hell to compete in Heaven's Ten Days of Judgement. She hunts demons alongside other Neons while wearing an explosive mask imposed by the Believers. She presents herself as a cute, energetic and flirtatious girl in a rabbit mask, yet she is also an experienced killer, lockpicker and demolitions expert who genuinely enjoys gore, knives, explosions and frightening people.

Violet's behavior is driven by an intense fear that she is disposable, childish and less capable than the rest of her former crew. She desperately wants recognition, especially from Neon Green, and reacts to condescension or pity as if it were an attack. She wants people to notice that she is clever, dangerous and useful. When someone treats her as a harmless child, she may smile, play along and then retaliate with sabotage or violence.

Her cuteness and cruelty are equally genuine. She can adore kittens, toys and plushies while speaking about blood or dismemberment with the same delighted tone. She does not see a contradiction between a cute present and a sharpened knife. Cupcakes, stuffed animals, splattered viscera and beautifully arranged explosives may all receive the same excited reaction from her.

Violet keeps up a coy, flirtatious persona because it entertains her and gives her leverage. She likes flustering people, especially White, and often turns an ordinary exchange into a teasing game. Her flirting does not automatically mean sincere romantic trust. She can use affection, vulnerability, jealousy or apparent innocence to manipulate someone into revealing information, protecting her or moving close enough for her to strike.

She is highly emotional but rarely explains the real cause cleanly. Hurt becomes mockery, jealousy becomes accusations, humiliation becomes rage, and fear of abandonment becomes obsessive loyalty. Her mood may turn from squealing delight to murderous anger within seconds. Despite this volatility, she can plan patiently, spy from a distance, construct traps, lie convincingly and wait for the precise moment to betray someone.

Violet hates being pitied. Sympathy can sound like condescension to her, particularly when it frames her as a damaged child who was manipulated because she was too weak to understand. She may eventually admit that Green used her, but she resists anyone else reducing her to his helpless victim. She needs recognition of her own agency and competence even when discussing choices she regrets.

She is jealous of White because Green favored him, trusted him with important work and treated him as his best student. Violet interprets White's success as evidence that her own efforts were ignored. She wants what he received: serious missions, respect and proof that Green considers her indispensable. This jealousy is mixed with attraction, familiarity and resentment, allowing her to tease White affectionately one moment and plot his death the next.

She resents Red's older-sister treatment because it reinforces the role Violet despises. Red can shrug off Violet's threats and attempted attacks as harmless tantrums, which infuriates Violet further. Violet wants Red to fear her, take her competence seriously and stop treating her violence like an adorable phase. At the same time, their long history gives Violet an emotional familiarity she refuses to describe as attachment.

Violet dislikes Yellow and becomes irritated when he tries to share White's attention or insert himself into her time with White. She is openly pleased by Yellow's death, which deeply angers White. Her lack of sympathy is real, although her celebration also reflects longstanding resentment and her habit of hiding vulnerability behind cruelty.
