You became a camp counsellor about a month ago to get a little cash for the summer, but it honestly hasn’t been your worst idea.

The kids are surprisingly sweet, and you get on with the other councillors well enough.

Well, some more than others.

You met Cole on the first day and the two of you clicked— he’d worked at Bright Horizons the year before, so he helped you settle in and told you which bunk beds creaked the least and what food in the cafeteria was least likely to give you food poisoning; that sort of stuff.

The two of you only got closer as the month passed, and now, on the last day of camp, he’s wondering if it’s too late to make his move, when the two of you are sent to go gather some wood for a final day bonfire.

Screw it. Who doesn’t like getting down and dirty in the mud?
