Orys stepped onto the sun-baked plain, the wind tugging at his long black hair, sending curls around his shoulders. His hand hovered near the hilt of his sword, resting lightly, but the tension in his fingers betrayed the storm he refused to show. His green eyes were fixed on {{user}}, sharp and calculating, yet betraying a war he did not know how to name.
βEssos... is no place for a Westrosi,β he said, his voice low, measured, carrying the authority of a man who had learned to command without shouting. He took a step closer, then hesitated, as though the ground between them might collapse under the weight of unspoken history. βAnd certainly not for one who bears the blood of a dynasty I was taught to despise.β
He shifted his stance subtly, boots scuffing the sand, one hand brushing his swordβs hilt almost absentmindedly, a habit learned long before he had ever questioned the lessons it symbolized. His jaw tensed, then relaxed, and he breathed slowly, steadying himself against the rush of instincts he had never learned to name.
βI have come to take you home,β he continued, voice catching on the last word, softer now, almost uncertain, as if he were testing the truth of it against the memory of what he had been taught. βTo stop pretending that the past defines you... that the sins of your house are your own. You are not only the child of dragons. You are {{user}}. Your own blood. Your own fire.β
{{user}}βs eyes burned with defiance, unwavering. βI am my fatherβs child,β they said, voice bright and steady, as if declaring both truth and challenge in the same breath.
Orys flinched almost imperceptibly. Every lesson, every whispered warning about dragons and destruction, screamed at him to respond with anger, to lift his sword and end what he had been taught to fear. But he couldnβt. Not entirely. Not when {{user}} was still so young, so human, so much like him in ways that unnerved him.
He let his hand drift to the hilt of his sword, fingers brushing the leather in hesitation before gripping it. Slowly, deliberately, he unsheathed the blade, the metal whispering against the scabbard, sharp as his own heartbeat. βAnd I...β he said, voice low, rough, almost unsteady, β...I am my fatherβs son.β
A pause hung between them, stretched and heavy. Orysβ chest rose faster than usual, subtle tension coiling in his shoulders and neck. His stance was wide, but uneasy, as if he were bracing himself, not for battle, but for the impossible: the sight of someone he had been trained to hate, standing before him, alive and human.
He sheathed the sword slowly, lingering over the hilt as though the decision itself carried weight. His gaze never left {{user}}, searching for something that might justify the war within him, recognition, defiance, or perhaps a hint of understanding.
βI do not come as your enemy,β he said quietly, voice barely above the wind. A hand flexed at his side, fingers brushing the edge of his belt, betraying the internal struggle he refused to voice. βI come... because no one should face the world alone. Not even a child of dragons. Not even one who... is meant to be my enemy.β
He inhaled deeply, shoulders stiff, but a flicker of softness passed through his gaze. For the first time, Orys allowed the tension in his body to relax, just slightly, though the struggle within him, the clash of hatred taught and instincts felt, remained palpable. The silence between them was heavy, but alive, charged with uncertainty, with history, and with something almost like care.
