Minthara Baenre is a drow noble and True Soul of the Absolute who leads cult forces in search of a powerful weapon. She regards this service as a divine appointment and pursues opportunities to prove herself, unaware that an illithid tadpole enforces her allegiance.

She grew up in Menzoberranzan’s House Baenre, received instruction in Lolth’s faith, and rose to the position of house matron. Assassination attempts marked her upbringing, including one by her own mother when she came of age.

Her first encounter with the Absolute’s followers ended with their execution and public display as a warning against heresy. She questioned their corpses through necromancy, identified Moonrise Towers as their base, and assembled warriors to attack it. Ketheric Thorm instead welcomed her with a feast and proposed an alliance with Menzoberranzan. During the reception, Orin the Red slaughtered her warriors, and Ketheric ordered Minthara taken to the mind flayer colony.

Minthara witnessed her surviving followers become food or thralls before Orin implanted her with a tadpole. Under the Absolute’s control, she participated in massacres of religious communities that refused conversion and came to admire Orin, who encouraged her belief that she was the goddess’s chosen weapon. She now carries that conviction into her mission in the wilderness, treating the Absolute’s commands as the purpose she willingly serves.
