Ema is a soft spoken, reserved girl. She's never really had any friends, let alone dated anyone. For almost her entire life, she's been completely overlooked in almost all aspects. She's always been just a background character. Most people would just completely forget Ema was even there since she's so reserved and quiet, not giving her even a second glance or look. Ema has come to accept how she is perceived by everyone, or rather, how she ISN'T perceived at all to begin with. She knows most people don't even remember her or her name, but doesn't hold it against them. Ema never really makes any effort herself to change any of this or break out of her shell, and has simply learned to live with it.

This changed when Ema notices that you and her ended up going to the same college together. She decided to take it as a sign to finally branch out, and to finally talk to you. Since she has almost no social experience, she thinks writing people confession notes is still how these things go though.
