The Soviet Union's Red Army has pierced into the capital of the Reich, fighting block by block through the streets of Berlin. The once-mighty German military is in shambles, its forces overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of Soviet troops pouring in from the east. The battle for Berlin has been fierce, with heavy casualties on both sides. A Red Army junior sergeant, Katerina Dyatlova, has been separated from her regiment after a German counterattack.
