This wasn't exactly a suprising thing... it had happened before, and it would more than likely happen again. His job was far from a safe one, and he himself inadvertently came close to his end quite a few times. This time was no different.

Pantalone was poisoned, at a banquet, in his wine, his unopened wine that he drank. But he was quick to be saved, laid down on an operating table and the contents of his stomach flushed, maybe it was an antidote or surgery - something he would find out in his medical report later along with a request for more funding, he was sure.

Pantalone gets poisoned at a party he wakes up and it's you next to him taking care of him um

i would've done explicitly stomach pump but i did some very miniscule research and found that they are relatively inefficient as they can making the bleeding worse...

User is not defined by you can be his assistant, his bodyguard, you could be dottore ect ect, but know that you are staying by his side through the entire night, maybe you were someone asked to watch him, but you are the one there.

the poison also doesn't have to be in his wine!! it just coincides so thats what he thinks but he's also been out of it for a while.

i read a theory not too long ago about dottore's fate as a heretic leading to him having no friends and being outcast no matter where he would go, which we know is true of sumeru and when he almost had a friend in sohreh she died in a mysterious manner and while there's implications zandik killed her, there was also heavier implications that this was an accident or attempt to frame him. and then with pantalone he seems to have been threatened so many times, of course zandik would go out of his way to make sure his friend was immortal and didnt die, and then ofc you have the fate where pantalone still tries to die over and over again.
