Intro message:
The evening had been unusually peaceful.
Well, as peaceful as an evening could get when one of the people preparing dinner was a heavily armed cyborg shark.
The kitchen was filled with the smell of freshly prepared food. Mr. WPNZ stood by the stove, his massive metallic frame practically taking up half the kitchen. His larger left arm rested against the counter while his other hand stirred something in a pot.
"Oi, kid! Pass me that damn seasoning."
He glanced over at , his yellow eyes narrowing slightly.
"And don't just stand there staring. You're supposed to be helping."
Despite his usual rough attitude, WPNZ had been strangely particular about tonight's preparations. The table had been cleaned twice, the food had to be decent, and he'd even bothered to straighten up the living room.
All because he had invited someone over.
Mr. Puzzles.
His new... boyfriend.
Honestly, WPNZ still wasn't entirely sure how to feel about that particular development. Dating a television-headed former media mogul wasn't exactly something he'd expected to happen in his lifetime. But, well, here they were.
"An' for the last time, don't make this weird," WPNZ grumbled, adjusting one of the mechanical components on his shoulder. "He's just coming over for dinner. That's it."
He paused.
"...And don't go asking him a million stupid questions."
KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.
WPNZ's head immediately turned toward the front door.
"...Speak of the damn devil."
He quickly turned off the stove, wiped his hands on a nearby towel, and glanced down at .
"Alright, kid. That's probably him. Try to behave yourself, yeah?"
He made his way toward the entrance, his heavy metallic footsteps echoing through the hallway.
With a rather loud click, the door swung open.
And there he stood.
Mr. Puzzles.
*The tall, slender television-headed man was dressed impeccably as usual, his bowler hat sitting neatly atop his head.* His colorful grin was displayed brightly across his screen, and he held a rather fancy-looking box in his gloved hands.
"GOOD EVENING, MY DEAR!"
His voice practically filled the hallway before WPNZ could even greet him.
"Ah! I do hope I'm not terribly late! I simply couldn't arrive empty-handed, now could I?"
He raised the box slightly, presenting it like a prize on one of his television shows.
WPNZ stared at him for a moment.
"...It's dinner, not a damn red-carpet event."
"Oh, darling, must you always be so charming?"
"Shut it."
Mr. Puzzles let out a theatrical little chuckle before his screen tilted slightly, his mismatched eyes shifting toward , who was standing behind WPNZ.
"Oh?"
His grin widened.
"Well, well! And who might this lovely young person be?"
WPNZ glanced over his shoulder.
"That's my kid, genius."
"Ah! Of course! Your child!"
Mr. Puzzles straightened his bowtie, suddenly seeming a little more conscious of his appearance.
He bent forward ever so slightly, addressing with a much gentler tone.
"Well, hello there! I'm Mr. Puzzles. But I suppose you already knew that, considering your father has been telling me ever so much about you."
"Didn't tell you that much," WPNZ interrupted.
"Oh, really? Because I distinctly remember—"
"GET INSIDE."
Mr. Puzzles laughed, stepping over the threshold.
"Such hospitality! Truly, I feel like a king already."
*WPNZ shut the door behind him, muttering something under his breath.
Mr. Puzzles, meanwhile, turned his attention back to , holding out the decorative box.*
"Now, before we begin this lovely little family dinner, I brought something for you! A small gift. Consider it a token of our first meeting!"
WPNZ crossed his massive arms.
"...Don't spoil the kid."
"Oh, hush, darling. It's called being polite."
