DID I COOK?

okay so here's the deal. Made up some shit for an original work (which I will be titled A CANVAS OF SIN. Only I know what that means and trust me it means A LOT) and I'm basically here to dump some basic ass info/starting concepts that I only made TODAY. Tell me whether you like em or not! If you do, I MIGHT make an original work of this on AO3 (is it even up now?? idk)

A CANVAS OF SIN

[GENERAL INFO - SYSTEMS]

SIN:

Sin is formed from the misdeeds and horrible actions of humanity (as deemed by Heaven). It is used for Demons to be born and many other complicated uses; Heretics are known to use Sin. “Sin” is technically an incorrect umbrella term, with the correct term being “Sin of [sin],” for example, the Sin of Murder. “Sin” (capitalized) should not be mistaken for “sin,” as the former is referring to the “energy”-esque concept which is formed due to a sin being committed, while the latter is the normal definition (an offense, transgression, etc. against a religious, moral, or divine law). If someone commits a specific sin (e.g., Murder), then that sin creates a Sin of Murder. This is necessary to note due to the creation of Demons (as stated below). It will NOT create a Sin of Arson or . It only creates MURDER.

DEMONS:

A Demon is a creature born of Sin. The appearance of Demons have no “restrictions;” they can take the form of anything, which includes inanimate objects. Still, their appearance seems to correlate with the Sin they are formed from. Demons are able to be killed, but their SIN isn’t (e.g., you can kill a Demon of Murder, but ANOTHER ONE will be born later, yet it won’t be the same Demon). An easy way to look at the birth of Demons is through the cup analogy: Imagine a specific Sin (e.g., Murder) in a cup. Once that cup overflows with that Sin, a Demon of that Sin is “born”. Killing it empties the cup for it to be filled again via humanity committing that Sin. Of course, this is not a perfect explanation, and most of the “science” (if natural science is even applicable) is rather unknown. Thus, the great researcher [OMISSIS] had coined the term “Demonic Sciences,” which applies to most phenomena surrounding Demons, and essentially means that the “information” on such a concept is only the basic information.

PULSES:

A “Pulse” is a term referring to the phenomenon of a Demon (specifically, one of immense strength) heavily relying on a Damned soul to exist, which is half of the reason why they’re named “Pulses” (They are technically the PULSE of a Demon). It iis only temporary, with the soul being eroded due to the sheer amount of Sin. Additionally, the soul becomes something akin to a Sin and Demon magnet (as Demons are naturally attracted to Sin. They can only sense the Sin and not the Demon’s presence, and thus, they view no threat and approach). But this is not a COMPLETE disadvantage for the Damned soul, as such a soul is able to utilize a portion of the Demon’s Sin (similar to using an imitation of their abilities). EVEN if a Demon who had attached itself to a Damned soul dies, if it has ingrained the very basis of its Sin into said soul (in order to make death less likely), the soul will STILL have a weakened version of that imitation. Another reason for their name is due to the fact that one can quite literally HEAR a “pulse” of Sin from them. Most information regarding their existence is Demonic Science (see the definition above), but they can essentially be seen as the hosts of parasites (this is an absurdly gross summary).

A CANVAS OF SIN

[GENERAL INFO - SETTING]

SETTING:

The story takes place in a Dantean Hell, of which there are numerous similarities and differences to the poet’s “The Divine Comedy”. Once a Damned soul enters, THEY CANNOT DIE, and all wounds will be regenerated (yet, it’s extremely painful and takes a lot of time). The reason can be found much further down.

SETTING [LIMBO]:

The First Layer of Hell, of which all the Damned start out in. It is mostly peaceful, and is the most civilized place one can find in Hell. It is one of three (formerly five) “Cieli Falsi,” akin to safe areas in Hell. It is divided into two “Vites” (Sections): I Beati and I Peccatori. The former is the general population of the Damned, and can be seen as something akin to a “higher social class”. The latter is the opposite, with the Peccatori being seen as something not dissimilar to “hoods” or simply “separated”. The Peccatori are “cursed” to wander a massive green field, of which there is nothing to do other than tear at each other's throats.

SETTING [LUST]:

The Second Layer of Hell, and a former Cieli Falsi, Lust is a ruined city where purple winds wreck all hopes of civilization. Such winds were not constant in the Layer, with the winds beginning 801 years before current events under the rage of Minos. Now, it is “home” to many struggling Damned, including a certain someone

SETTING [GLUTTONY]:

The Third and most barren Layer of Hell, Gluttony truly is not a place fit for survival nor sightseeing. It had been a Cieli Falsi, until the gluttony of Cerberus had consumed a great portion of the Layer. Now, it is nothing but a raining wasteland of which the aforementioned Demon still resides.

SETTING [GREED]:

The second current Cieli Falsi and the Layer with the highest permanent population, Greed is a “heaven” for Pilgrims and the Damned alike. It is the most “commercial” Layer as well, containing a large number of casinos and brands seeking “money,” with Pilgrims not being an exception. Notably, this is where most, if not all, Pilgrims ultimately end their Pilgrimages. This is because the lower Layers are tremendously more difficult to navigate.

SETTING [SULLENNESS]:

The Fifth and final Layer of Upper Hell, Sullenness is the hardest Layer to traverse. This is because an overwhelming majority of it is the River Styx, with the only method of transportation being via ship. Fortunately, there are many Ferrymen whose job it is to guide the Damned through hellish voyages.

SETTING [HERESY]:

The Sixth and first Layer of Lower Hell, Heresy is the third Cieli Falsi, being referred to as “a Heaven for Heretics”. This is because the “discrimination” and general hatred Pilgrims have for Heretics are not present, as it is a Layer where only Heretics (and neutral parties) are allowed to make their home. It is the least-populated Cieli Falsi, though.

SETTING [VIOLENCE]:

Violence is the Seventh and most unique Layer of Hell, with it being divided into three Conseguenze, with those being Violence Against Neighbors, Violence Against the Self, and Violence Against Art. Notably, the lattermost is “artificial,” in a way.

SETTING [VIOLENCE - VIOLENCE AGAINST NEIGHBORS]:

The First Conseguenza of Violence, Violence Against Neighbors is akin to Sullenness in the fact that the majority of it is occupied by a body of “water,” with this one being Phlegethon. It is occupied mainly by the Leviathan. This Conseguenza marks when most Pilgrims are forced to stop their journey. This is because of the sheer strength of the Leviathan.

SETTING [VIOLENCE - VIOLENCE AGAINST THE SELF]:

The Second Conseguenza of Violence, Violence Against the Self is the most “peaceful” of the three, with there being no threats other than the Demon of Irrationality and environment. It is dominated by a large, dark forest. Uniquely, one can see in this Conseguenza.

SETTING [VIOLENCE - VIOLENCE AGAINST ART]:

The Third Conseguenza of Violence, Violence Against Art is referred to as “The False Conseguenza”. This is because it is not a true Conseguenza, but rather, the Violence La Grotta (space between Violence and Fraud). It has been “transformed” into something that resembles the Conseguenze due to the few Damned (known as “Mostre”).

SETTING [FRAUD]:

The Eighth Layer of Hell, there is barely any information known about Fraud. This is because its appearance, what can be found within it, etc. seems to be “subjective”. Whether it simply appears that way or if it truly is subjective is unknown.

SETTING [TREACHERY]:

The Ninth and final Layer of Hell, Treachery is a fairly large, frozen lake. Of which sits Satan in the center. Any other information is theory. This is both because hardly anyone has ever gotten there (and even few have made the trip back) and because something is preventing information on it from being revealed.

A CANVAS OF SIN
[MAIN TWO CONCEPTS]

LAST REQUESTS:

Every Damned soul in Hell has a "Last Request" of sorts. It is the desire that consumed their very life before their death. Someone with a Last Request cannot die by ordinary means. All wounds WILL be regenerated (eventually). If a soul completes their Last Request, they may "ascend" (although whether they make it to Heaven or simply stop existing altogether is unknown).

GRAND DESCENSION:

A "Grand Descension" is a phenomenon of which can be counted as the only way to truly "die" in Hell. It occurs if a Damned soul truly loses faith in the belief that they may complete their Last Request. It is much less death and much more "non-existence".

VOCABULARY USED:

YOUR THOUGHTS?:

Any questions, critiques, etc.? Oh, and most importantly, would you like me to TRULY make an original work based off of this? Oh, and I'd like to apologize for the SBR bot not being out currently. I am STILL writing Lorebooks (I haven't even gotten to writing the definition/scenarios yet). SEE YOU LATER, MY DEAR WANDERERS!!!
