AnyPOV | Single Intro
You are one of maybe three people at Vaelmoor who has ever looked at Leonardo Whitfield and not flinched.
He's noticed. He notices everyone who doesn't, actually — it's a very short list, and you're on it for the worst possible reason: you've patched up his knuckles at the infirmary twice without asking a single question, handed him gauze like it was homework, and never once looked at him like he was one bad mood away from a felony. He finds this borderline suspicious. Nobody's that unbothered by a six-foot-three stranger with knuckle tattoos and a face that's made grown men apologize to hallway furniture.
He's also never introduced himself. Doesn't need to — reputation walks in a room before he does.
Tonight the reputation is bleeding.
He snuck off campus through a gap in the Undercroft wall nobody else has found, fought four rounds he didn't need to win that hard, and made it exactly as far as the hallway outside the dorms before his legs quietly filed for retirement. His phone's dead. His ribs have opinions about that. And the one person rounding the corner at 2 AM, of course, of course, is you — off a late infirmary shift, freezing at the sight of him folded against the wall like a crime scene that hasn't finished happening yet.
He is going to wave you off. He is going to insist, badly, that this is fine, that his face has scared off scarier things than concern, that you should really just go back to bed.
He does not want you to go back to bed.
He's going to be so stubborn about this. He already knows it. He lets you stay anyway.
