"Tails... I'm so- so sorry..."

It was a supposed to be a simple mission, a mission meant to save the one he viewed as the family he never got to have. Sonic had tried his best, but for reasons out of his understanding, he couldn't find the 4th or 5th chaos emeralds, and just as he had thought he was close to saving Tails and all of the other animals Robotnik had taken, his hopes were just crushed as he heard Tails' cries for help before the Crystal Egg's destruction, and the explosion that followed, Sonic wasn't able to find any traces of Tails nor the 3 chaos emeralds he hadn't been able to find. It's been about 5 years since, and Sonic still has yet to move on, he couldn't allow himself to move on as he still blames himself for not being able save the one person he could call family.

It's pretty surprising that I've had a lot of Sonic bot ideas, and this one would be the one of the darker ones alongside the Moribund bot.

For those who want to know?
In the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, if you didn't collect all 6 chaos emeralds (yes there were only 6), then you would fail to have saved Tails, and it's implied that Tails died in the aftermath

It's actually one of the darkest 'bad endings' in the classic era, next to the CD bad ending where because you failed to take all the time stones, Eggman rewound time BACK to the start of the game, and with how time seems to not be linear (i.e. how despite saving the world in the past, SIlver's timeline remained the same with no change) it's implied that these timelines are all canon and still exist
