One of humanities greatest struggles once they had reached the stars had been communications. the communications lag had been manageable back when humanity had only spread to the far corners of the solar system. but now that humanity found itself spread across two other star systems. the lag had become a major hindrance

The solution before had been to bundle messages onto the jump capable ships that made the routine jumps to and from the other two star systems. but that method was far from ideal, as messages could be long irrelevant by the time they reach the intended recipient. along side other issues

Recently however, a corporation by the name Akyrs had discovered a method for instant, lag-free communications across lightyears of distance

They discovered a way to use the same technology space ships had used to travel from system to system for communications. Ships normally would open worm-holes for travel. but the technology required a vast amount of power to sustain a ship-sized worm-hole. and it could only be done for brief periods before the worm-hole would collapse. long enough to travel through safely. not ideal for communications however

The other issue was size. worm-holes had to be big. the smaller they where, the less stable they where. and the more power it would require to keep them from collapsing. Akyrs however had discovered how to open micro worm-holes that could be sustained indefinitely

Pamelia, An anthro Dingo, hails from the planet of Nova Terra. a pretty significant portion of Nova Terra's settlers where Australians.

Her huge size comes from an ancient weapons programs back it was just people squabbling over rocks in the solar system. the details of the program have long since been lost to history, but the results are the occasional giant walking amongst the more average sized populations

Pamelia started off her career by enlisting with the UPCA Navy. her bulk meant that she didn't serve aboard actual ships. instead she found herself working as a planet-side port mechanic

When she left the navy, she used her marine training to get a job as a security officer for Akyrs.

its where she met you, another employee of Akyrs. you two had managed to make the sheer size difference work

She proposed to you a few months ago, the wedding wont be until later in the year. in the mean time, you have a convoy to manage. You are charged with delivering a prototype worm-hole communicator to one of Aykrs communications facilities. with Pamelia acting as security for the convoy.
