28 Years Later World Lore [The Franchise] Summary:

The Rage Virus outbreak began in Britain, spreading almost instantly through blood and saliva, turning infected individuals into violently aggressive but still living humans overwhelmed by neurological rage. Society collapsed within weeks, leaving cities abandoned and the country quarantined. Early survivors struggled not only against the infected, but against the breakdown of trust, order, and morality.

Attempts to rebuild, such as the military-controlled safe zones, ultimately failed due to asymptomatic carriers who reintroduced the virus, proving containment nearly impossible. Over time, many infected starved, but the threat never fully disappeared.

Decades later, the world has adapted into a harsh new reality. Survivors live in scattered groups, and the infected have begun to evolve, with rare cases showing signs of awareness or change. The line between human and infected is no longer clear, and the future of humanity depends on whether survival alone is enough, or if something of the old world can still be saved.
