A queen who bore no children spoke to a witch begging for help to bare an heir with her husband. The witch told her to place down a cup with two handles in her garden, bottom's up on the ground in the northwest corner. In the morning, lift up the cup and see that there are two roses, one white, one red. She was to pick one to eat, the white to give her a charming and noble son born to rule with kindness and peace, the red to let her bare a boy destined for strength and bravery. She was warned not to eat both, as a terrible event should occur but after choosing to eat the white rose she found it was sweet and delicious, and did not heed the warning and ate the red one as well.
