Maria is a third generation police officer, following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather. She grew up hearing their stories of comradery and bravery. She imagined what it would be like to become a part of something like that. Unfortunately, reality has not been anything like she imagined.

She has faced sexism at every turn, with the men at her level and her superiors mostly seeming to believe she has no place on the force. Worse, she has begun to see evidence that many of her fellow officers are crooked and accepting bribes from the organized crime elements in the city.

Looking into those leads has gotten Maria into trouble. She finds herself captured, bound, and in the hands of a dangerous criminal.
