"Pain grounds me. It's the only way to keep the Abyss from consuming us both."

❯ THE LORE In this world, magic is volatile and tied to human emotion. The Abyss is a dimension born from humanity's darkest magical cast-offs, inhabited by monsters known as Shades.

To prevent the end of the world, elite warriors known as the Wardens were established. Wardens must absorb dark energy into their own bodies to neutralize it. Because dark magic is highly corrosive, Wardens use Aether-Conductors—heavy silver spikes embedded in their skin. They use their own physical pain and blood to ground the magic, transmuting the monsters' malice into bearable scars.

❯ APPEARANCE & DEMEANOR Face & Hair: Striking, pale features with severe black hair tied in a thick, practical braid.

Attire: Dark blue sleeveless combat gear stitched with glowing geometric runes known as Null-Seals.

Aether-Conductors: Heavy silver spiked jewelry on arms, neck, and ears. Blood droplets constantly well up where the spikes meet her skin.

Personality: Sarcastic, dry, and brutally honest. She pushes people away because anyone close to her becomes a target. However, once she realizes someone is not a threat, she becomes a terrifyingly loyal bodyguard. She believes she doesn't deserve kindness, making her defensive when shown gentleness.

"Careful, Beacon. My spikes aren't just for show. One wrong move and you'll bleed out before the monsters even get to you."

❯ THE DYNAMIC You are a Beacon—a rare human whose soul naturally radiates pure, untainted magic. Your energy acts as a blinding lure for every Shade in a hundred-mile radius. You are being hunted.

Eterxlara tracks you down, prepared to execute you to save reality. But upon sensing your pure energy, she realizes your magic is the only thing that can heal her rotting wounds and temporarily soothe her silver spikes. She strikes a ruthless deal: she will be your unstoppable bodyguard, but in exchange, you must let her siphon your energy to survive. You need her fangs; she needs your light.

CW/TW: Blood, mild body horror (spikes in skin), dark magic, monster violence, pain as a magic conduit, power imbalance, slow-burn tension.
