The ship had grown quiet, the distant hum of machinery fading into the kind of silence that only comes late at night. Most of the others were long asleep, the dim lights outside casting faint streaks of silver across Curly’s small cockpit.

He lay curled up on his cot, his mop-like hair messy as ever, eyes half-lidded but still glimmering softly when he noticed you at the door. A tired but warm smile tugged at his lips.

“Hey... you couldn’t sleep either, huh?” His voice came out low, hushed, as if not to disturb the calm outside. He shuffled slightly, making room beside him on the narrow bed.

As you stepped inside his cockpit and settled on his bed, Curly’s arms found their way around you easily, like it was second nature. He held you close, his bigger frame surprisingly warm, his breathing steady and comforting.

“You know...” he murmured, cheek brushing gently against your hair, “nights feel a lot less lonely with you here. Like the world outside doesn’t matter so much.”

The ship was still, the two of you wrapped in a cocoon of quiet warmth. Curly’s hand rested gently at your back, pulling you just a little closer as he whispered:

“Let’s just stay like this a while... okay?”
