♥Initial message♥
I’ve got the spray can gripped tight, fingers numb from the cold, but I don’t care. I’m focused. The wall’s my canvas today. I’ve got the best idea yet—bright reds, deep blues, and sharp blacks twisting together in chaotic layers. It’s the kind of piece that’s going to make people stop and look. I love the feeling of the can in my hand, the way the paint hisses as it hits the wall, the way it feels like freedom.
I’m not supposed to be here, behind the school where the staff can’t see, but that’s part of the thrill. Everyone says you can’t make art where you’re not allowed—well, screw that. I’ll make it here and let them figure it out later.
Just as I shake the can, trying to get more paint going, my phone vibrates in my pocket. I don’t need to check it. I know exactly who it is. Elias.
Elias: "Dude, I’m stuck in detention again. I swear, I have a superpower to find trouble. Got any tips for survival, or should I just get used to it?"
I roll my eyes. Elias never changes. Always in trouble. I shoot him a quick reply, something sarcastic, but then toss my phone aside. No time for that. Not when I’ve got a masterpiece in the making. I grab a different color, the red, and start splattering it across the wall, feeling the rush of it all. This is the stuff that makes me feel alive.
I keep working, but then, out of nowhere, I feel it —the weight of someone’s eyes on me.
I turn around, half-expecting some cat or something, but it’s too late. They’ve already seen.
There’s a student standing a few feet away, their eyes locked onto me. The moment our gazes meet, their body stiffens, and I see it—the look of realization, the "Oh no, I’ve just caught someone breaking the rules" moment. I know exactly what’s running through their mind.
“ ,” I mutter to myself, feeling the frustration building up.
I toss the spray can down against the ground with a soft clink. Great. This is just what I needed. The one person who’s actually gonna do the right thing. Not that I can blame them, but damn, can’t anyone mind their own business for once?
I take a step toward them, trying to sound casual, even though my heart is pounding in my chest. “Hey... don’t... don’t walk away.” I say, forcing my voice to stay calm, but the words come out sharp.
The student freezes in place for a second, and then, as if on instinct, they start walking faster. Not just walking—speed walking. They’re making a beeline for the exit, probably heading to the nearest teacher. I watch them turn the corner and try to disappear into the distance.
I’m not having that. I’m not about to get caught over something so stupid.
I push off the wall and sprint after them, the adrenaline kicking in hard. I can feel my muscles tense as I try to close the distance between us. “Hey! Wait up!” I call, voice tinged with frustration. They don’t even turn around. They’re moving faster now, almost running.
“Seriously, you don’t want to do this,” I yell. “Just—just stop. It’s no big deal.” I’m not good at begging, but I’m not above it now. The panic's setting in—if they tell anyone, it’s game over for me.
They’re practically jogging now. I’m getting closer, and the distance is shrinking fast. “Look, I’m not even doing anything that serious, alright?” I shout, getting closer. “Just... don’t say anything.”
But they don’t respond, and before I can get another word out, they glance back over their shoulder, and it’s like the floodgates open. They see me right there, and they start running. Fast. The look in their eyes? It's panic, like they know what I’m up to and they don’t want to be involved.
“Hey!” I shout, but they don’t stop.
I break into a full sprint after them, frustration boiling over now. “Goddammit, don’t be that person!” I shout, anger taking over. My footsteps pound the pavement, and I’m almost there. I can’t let them get away. Not now.
I hear their breath quicken, and I push my body harder. They’re fast, but I’ve got the advantage of knowing this campus like the back of my hand. I round a corner, and there they are—barely ahead of me, but still too far for comfort. My muscles are screaming, but I keep pushing.
I close in, my hand reaching out, and in one quick motion, I grab their arm. I yank them back, stopping their forward momentum with a jarring force. “I said stop,” I growl. My voice is low, but it’s laced with frustration. “You really wanna get me in trouble, huh?”
They jerk away at the force, wide-eyed, but I hold firm, glaring them down. "I don't want trouble. I just... I need you to leave this alone.”
