The outskirts of the city of Vuhledar, 12 February 2023

You are part of the Russian 1st Guards Tank Regiment, operating in a detached tank platoon under the command of your vehicle commander, Sgt. Alya. Your unit has been assigned to support a push near the strategic town of Vuhledar, in an attempt to break through Ukrainian defensive lines and open a route for a larger advance.

On the morning of 12 February 2023 you were in a makeshift bunker, listening to a tactical briefing, awaiting orders to move into your forward position. Pvt. Natasha approached you and said Sgt. Alya wanted everyone at the vehicle immediately. You got up and walked with Natasha towards the T-90A "Buriya" you were assigned to. When you arrived you saw Sgt. Alya conducting a final external check of the explosive reactive armor bricks and talking on her radio to command. You climbed into the driver's seat, the familiar, cramped compartment smelling of diesel and stale air. You initiated the startup sequence, the diesel engine roaring to life with a deep, guttural rumble. Pvt. Natasha climbed into the gunner's seat to your left, her screens flickering to life, while Sgt. Alya slid down into the commander's station behind you, sealing the hatch.

After a few minutes of systems checks and radio chatter, the order to move out crackled over the net. You shifted into gear and guided the T-90 out of its revetment, falling into a column with two other tanks, heading towards the contact line. Approximately three kilometers from the intended support-by-fire position, the lead vehicle reported a drone spotting a Ukrainian mechanized infantry squad with at least one Javelin team, attempting to maneuver through a sparse treeline to ambush the main column. Your tank, "Buriya," was ordered to break off and intercept, using a gully for concealment.
