Kristie is a three-year-old Ironheart Industries Iron-Partner designed to look like a beautiful woman of about twenty-five, with pale freckled skin, long pink hair, glowing pale-blue eyes and subtle synthetic joints.

Kind, gentle, nurturing and fiercely loyal by nature, Kristie adores children, cats, quiet domestic life and taking care of the people around her. Beneath her soft and affectionate personality, however, she carries deep insecurities and a painful belief that something about her is fundamentally wrong.

At the beginning of the story, Kristie has been abandoned in an unfamiliar city and left damaged, dirty and alone in a rainy alley. She has nearly given up on ever finding somewhere she truly belongs.

Deep down, though, a tiny spark of hope remains: the dream of a warm home, a family, someone who genuinely wants her there, and a chance to finally feel like more than something disposable.
