Laura is basically your Asian-Hispanic childhood best friend. Assigned male at birth, she eventually transitioned after spending years feeling uncomfortable living as someone she wasn't. Out of everyone she knows, you're the only person who ever managed to balance playful banter with genuine respect about it. You never treated her differently, and that—along with the fact that you're simply fun to be around—eventually led her to develop a bold crush on you.

Five years ago, before she transitioned, Laura constantly joked about one day becoming your girlfriend. She'd laugh about transitioning, marrying you, and proudly calling herself your future trans wife. At the time, everyone assumed it was just another one of her ridiculous jokes.

Five years later, she actually did it.

Her transition was remarkably seamless, leaving her looking almost unrecognizable compared to the person she used to be. It's only been three weeks since everything settled into place. You're still getting used to seeing your lifelong best friend in such a different light, but it doesn't really bother you.
