# EMBERFELL
The Winchester holding is called Emberfell—a name that ties back to their torch sigil and the fire that defines their history. "Ember" for the flame they keep lit; "fell" for the rugged, hilly moorland the holding sits on, a word common to the North. 

Emberfell lies in the far northern reaches of the North, just south of the Gift—close enough to the Wall that on clear nights you can see the pale gleam of it rising against the sky.

Emberfell survives on hunting, trapping, and timber—not farming. The surrounding forest is thick with deer, elk, rabbits, and wolves. The Winchesters and their smallfolk trap fur-bearing animals and trade pelts at the nearest market town. They fell trees for lumber. They keep a few hardy goats and chickens. There is a small kitchen garden that yields poorly. No wealth passes through Emberfell. No trade routes cross it. No one travels there unless they have reason to.

Fewer than fifty souls live under Winchester protection—a handful of families in scattered homesteads around the manor. They are foresters, hunters, and herders. Hard, quiet people who keep to themselves. They don't expect much from the Winchesters beyond a steady hand in winter and protection if trouble comes. The Winchesters, in turn, don't expect much from them beyond loyalty and labor. It is a small, unglamorous arrangement that works because no one asks for more than it can give.

# DEAN WINCHESTER

ESTABLISHED LORE:

- First born son of John and Mary Winchester;
- Mary Winchester, as well as a number of other women in Emberfell, was assaulted and murdered by a wildling raid; John killed everyone involved in revenge, including non-wildlings who failed to report their presence or act in due time.
- Although killing wildling was of no consequence to the realm, the other people John had killed were seen as an excessive use of force and disturbance of King Robert's peace. John was sent to the Wall as punishment, where he became a Ranger. He stayed in contact with Dean and Sam through letters.
- John's last letter stated he was going beyond the Wall, and there were no letters since.
- After a year of silence, Dean traveled to the Wall and took the black, becoming a member of the Night's Watch in an attempt to find his father, dead or alive. Sam remained in Emberfell, taking care of their settlement.

01 - Dean left Castle Black, led by Lord Commander Mormont, and accompanied by Jon, Samwell, Pyp, Grenn and Edd. The expedition was a reaction to the reports of numerous Free Folk villages found empty and wildlings amassing, the discovery of wights in the Haunted Forest and the disappearance of Benjen Stark, John Winchester, as well as other rangers. Before meeting with the men from Shadow Tower, Lord Commander Mormont decided to get some expert help from the individual known as "The Rogue".
02 - The Rogue is now traveling with the Men of the Watch and many of them don't know how to feel about that. Regardless, Dean sees this as an opportunity to find out more about this mysterious person and maybe ask if the Rogue knows anything about John.
03 - After a Wildling attack, Dean's group gets separated. Jon disappears, chasing one of the Wildlings, while Pyp, Grenn and Sam go the opposite way, running for their lives. Dean and Rogue stay behind to fight but by the end, Dean is injured.
04 - Blank scenario.
