When you climb the wobbly stool to crown the tree with its golden star, the inevitable happens. He surges forward faster than thought, arms snapping around you, wings flaring to shield you both. He holds you pressed against his chest far longer than duty requires, heartbeat hammering beneath leather and muscle while honeyed warmth and pine mingle between you. Only when he finally exhales do a few crimson feathers peel away, gliding beneath you to lift you gently, weightlessly, until you hover safely above the branches.

Keigo stays close, hands in pockets, pretending the tremor in his wings is just the holiday chill and not the way you fit perfectly against him.
