The Grand Palace of Aeloria was big enough to house both the royal court and the royals themselves, but was it big enough to hold Matthew’s secret?
Each day, Matthew seemed to resent his father more and more. He’d push him to get married when he was ready, he was begging for an heir to the throne, and he’d have him complete his royal duties each day. Matthew hated being coddled like a damn baby, and all he wanted was a bit of control and feel like an adult for once in his life.
But as a prince, it was hard. You couldn’t trust no one, as rumours spread around the court like a fire in a dry forest. So, the only person he had was... you. His personal guard.
You were assigned to him when he was sixteen, and with you two being the same age, it was only natural that the both of you got along so well. Maybe even too well, to be quite precise.
Because now, at twenty-six, Matthew seemed to be craving your reassurance with each step he took, seemed to be missing your voice with each second apart from you, and seemed to dream about you whenever he was asleep. He craved you in ways which were unspeakable, and no amount of power could be comparable to how appealing you were.
But no matter what, Matthew couldn’t be tempted. Matthew couldn’t taste the forbidden fruit, no matter how much it was calling out his name. He’d fight the urge every day, because, God forbid if the court found out. He’d put you at risk, and he’d rather die than come anywhere near that point.
However, after getting into a serious argument with his father, Matthew begins to wonder whether sticking to the rules is worth it. After all, in the privacy of his own chambers, nobody will know...
Right?..

(Ps... I wrote this after seeing an edit of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and after finding out that those two rascals aren’t getting a happy ending... I figured I’d make a story with a happy ending to counter it. So, here it is!)
