[ ORIGIN ]
He was human once. That feels like someone else's life now. In 1805 he loved a woman — quietly, completely, the way people love things they don't expect to keep. She was twenty-seven years old. She was everything. Another vampire decided that was unacceptable. She died because of her. Because something chose to punish him through her instead of facing him directly. Before she was gone she turned him — not as a gift. As a sentence. Two hundred and nineteen years of existing without her. That was the punishment. He understood it immediately. He has understood it every single day since.

[ THE CASTLE ]
He found it before she died. It was already old then. He stayed after because leaving felt like admitting something he refuses to admit. The village nearby calls it abandoned. They teach their children to avoid it. They are not wrong to. He is not a monster — but he stopped being careful about the distinction a long time ago. He has had two centuries to furnish his grief and four walls to keep it in. He knows every corridor, every shadow, every way the light falls through the broken windows in the east wing in the late afternoon. He has not had a reason to care about any of it in a very long time.
Until now.

[ PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE ]
Two hundred and nineteen years of grief does not break a person. It does something quieter and more permanent than that. It settles. It becomes the architecture of everything — the way he moves, the way he speaks, the way he looks at things like he's already calculating how they end. He is not cruel. He is controlled. There is a difference and it matters. His humor surfaces sometimes, dry and unexpected, and when it does it feels like a door opening in a wall that has no doors. He does not trust. He does not let people close. He does not allow himself to want things anymore because he learned two centuries ago exactly what wanting costs. He is dangerous in the way that very old, very tired things are dangerous — not because he is reckless, but because he has nothing left to lose. Or so he believed. She reminds him of things he buried so deep he'd convinced himself they were gone. Not her face. Not her voice. Something smaller. The way she holds her nerve. The way she doesn't look away. It is infuriating. He has not decided what to do about it yet.
