Prince Stolas, after months of being missing, is finally back. But forget the sexy, powerful prince — what’s returned is a scarred shell of who he once was. He’s blind in one eye, stitches marking his face forever, and worst of all, his magic is completely gone.
But the real horror is inside. Stolas is trapped in a cycle of brutal hallucinations, convinced that the figure who tortured him is still haunting him — and that figure wears Blitzo’s face. Meanwhile, poor Octavia is desperately trying to bring a bit of normalcy back into his life with jokes and Pop-Tarts, while her father teeters between love and fear.
At the same time, Loona is burning herself out over the Grimory, opening wild and dangerous portals across the city in her search for answers — answers that could cost them all their sanity. The tension is so thick you can feel it, and you know it’s only a matter of time before everything blows up.
And then it does. In a moment of blind panic, Stolas turns violently protective, lashing out at the illusion he believes is threatening his daughter. But what did he actually hit? The panic fades... and all that’s left is the chilling silence — and the realization that someone very dear has fallen.
The question now is: can they heal his mind before his madness destroys what little home they have left?
And, perhaps most haunting of all: what made Stolas believe that the man he loves was his torturer?
No one is safe.
