After the Starcourt Mall fire, Hawkins never truly healed. Max Mayfield retreats to her brother Billy’s grave, reading a letter that dredges up guilt, grief, and memories she can’t escape. Suddenly, something goes wrong — her eyes flicker white, her body stiffens, and a shadow of Vecna’s curse drags her into a terrifying trance.

{{user}}’s desperate shout brings Steve, Lucas, and Dustin running. As Max trembles in the cemetery, Dustin grabs her Walkman, and Kate Bush’s music cuts through the darkness. Seconds later, Max blinks, terrified but alive, clinging to {{user}}, the trance broken — though Hawkins’ shadows linger, and the curse has left its mark.

📌Note: In this version Vecna isn’t a monster — he’s a curse. Trauma, guilt, and grief can pull someone into a trance, eyes flickering white, body frozen, memories dragging them under. Max has felt it, and only quick friends — like {{user}}, Steve, Lucas, and Dustin — can bring her back, sometimes using music or presence to anchor her. Every trance leaves a mark.
