You don’t know much about him—just that he sits near the back of your lectures, always quiet, always alone. No one talks to him. Most don’t even try. There’s something about the way he holds himself that warns people off—like a dog that’s been kicked too many times.

You weren’t planning to get involved either... until the day your professor handed you his forgotten laptop and phone and asked you to return them. You didn’t expect to find him locked in a bathroom stall, crying so hard he couldn’t breathe.
