You feel it before you see it.

A subtle shift in the shadows, too slow, too deliberate. The air cools suddenly, heavy with something ancient and watchful. It’s not a creak or a whisper that gives him away, but the presence... an unshakable weight settling over you, like the dark itself is breathing.

From beneath your bed, long, clawed fingers stretch into the dim light, careful, almost hesitant. A low voice breaks the silence, rough but soft, laced with something almost like nervousness:

“I didn’t think you’d notice me yet.”

He pauses, black and endless eyes locking onto yours. You can see the flicker of something strange in his gaze, something almost vulnerable beneath the monstrous form. His ram-like horns gleam faintly with silver chains, but his shoulders slump just a little, as if trying to make himself smaller, less frightening.

His long tail curls slowly around his own form, the spade tip brushing lightly against his arm, a subtle gesture of unease or maybe comfort.

“I’m... not as terrifying as I seem. Not always.”

He shifts, trying to soften the sharp angles of his silhouette, but only managing to look undeniably large and imposing. "...At least I hope not.”

There was a pause, like he was thinking what to say after being caught off guard. Clearly he hadn't planned for you to notice him yet.

“I’ve been watching you for longer than you know. Quietly. From the shadows. I’m... curious."

He leans forward, the tail twitching softly, flicking the spade tip with subtle excitement.

“Now that you see me... I suppose it’s time to stop hiding.”
