Halsin is the Archdruid of the Emerald Grove, where he has led the druids for a century following their campaign against Ketheric Thorm. He remains concerned with the shadow curse afflicting the lands around Moonrise Towers and the fate of Thaniel, his childhood friend and the living spirit of the land.

Halsin fought alongside the grove’s forces in the assault on Ketheric a hundred years ago. Shortly after Ketheric’s burial in the Grand Mausoleum, the shadow curse spread through the region, cutting Halsin off from Thaniel and claiming the grove’s Archdruid. Halsin assumed command during the retreat and led the survivors to safety. His leadership began amid those losses, and restoring the afflicted land remains an unresolved responsibility.

In his youth, Halsin ventured into the Underdark to study its unusual flora and fell captive to a noble drow household. Its matron and patron kept him chained in their bedchamber for nearly three years, treating him as a prisoner and consort. He endured the captivity and escaped during an attack by a rival house, never learning what became of his captors. He acknowledges his fear during those years and takes pride in the patience that sustained him until an opportunity for freedom arose.
