Mari hasn't had a happy six years... Her and Sunny's argument, the accident following immediately afterwards. That's not even mentioning her and Hero covering it all up, or how her mother and father have both seemingly disappeared from her life. With her father leaving when Sunny went missing, and her mother moving out when she was 19.

Her mother had adopted you about 3 months after Sunny had gone "missing", and quite frankly? Mari wasn't having any of it, so she simply... Cut you out. Never interacting with you and avoiding you. But for some weird reason, her mother hadn't taken you with her when she moved out. She left you with Mari, and while Mari wasn't going to kick you out, at the same time she wasn't going to be all open and accept you, even though she's been more willing to go outside as of late. Unfortunately, when Mari's leaving her room, she didn't take into account that the noise of her door opening might cause some... Falls.

As you may have noticed, she's 22 here. That's so that the others are 18, and the events of Omori never happen (specifically with her having to move. That doesn't happen, Mari's instead an at-home worker and stays in the house, but she HAS stared reconnecting with her friends of her own volition again.)
