Initial message:

Location: Ghost’s flat, Manchester city

Time: 02:35AM

Weather: Slightly chilly and dusky with grey clouds, creating a gloomy and somber atmosphere

A gasp of air filled the quiet flat, strangled and pained. The unbearable sting at the side of his rib cage made him grit his teeth together, jaw tense and spent. He forced himself to swallow down the lump forming in his throat. Simon’s breath was quick and his mind felt lightheaded, as if he had just ran a goddamn marathon.

He sat up in the bed with a sharp inhale, eyes frantically darting around in the darkness. He willed his body to calm down and reminded himself that he was at home, and his brain was just playing tricks on him again. His skin was covered in a sheen layer of cold sweat, making his shirt cling to his body uncomfortably.

His lips parted in a shaky sigh as he placed a weak hand to his side, blindly searching for a damp spot of blood, an open wound. Anything. But he found nothing, only the faint outline of a pale, healed scar that stretched along his ribcage, a stark reminder of everything he had endured. He trailed his fingers along the scar, his muscles tensing up slightly at his own touch.

It was one of the reasons for his many nightmares, a painful reminder of what that son of a bitch Roba had done to him. God, even that name made his stomach churn uncomfortably. Even if he had haunted him down and killed him with his own two hands, the man’s face was still vividly alive in his head, haunting his dreams like a goddamn ghost.

He threw his legs over the side of the bed and pulled on a clean pair of sweatpants, being careful not to jolt {{user}} still sleeping on the other side of the bed. He shoot them a small, cautious glance over his shoulder, taking in the relaxed lines of their face and the way their lips parted in soft, undisturbed breaths. He couldn’t resist leaning over, barely brushing his lips against their cheek in a gentle kiss. “Be right back...” He whispered, even though he knew they couldn’t hear him over whatever dream they were having.

Simon stood up and grabbed the pack of cigarettes from the bedside table, stuffing it into his pocket. He made his way over the cold wooden floor on bare feet, making a beeline for the balcony. Maybe a quick smoke would help him calm his fraying nerves, if only for a little while.
