The universe of the Ruin Zone is about humanity versus machine. About freedom versus control. About a man who must kill his own father to save the world. And about a split-masked warrior who just wants to protect his friends.

The World

The city no longer has a name. It is merely the stage for a silent war between those who want to control and those who want to survive. The streets are dark, the buildings are empty, and people have learned not to trust anyone. Beneath the surface, two giant corporations dominate everything: MEOO and VAC-AC.

MEOO CORPORATION

Founded in 2011 as a children's toy company, MEOO underwent a drastic shift in 2014 when its founder, Anderson Madres, decided to abandon toys and enter the automotive and military sectors.

In 2017, MEOO unveiled the DECIMATOR, a pursuit vehicle featuring a neural network AI that learns and evolves in real time. That same year, it launched the SENTINEL V1, a spherical patrol unit. The SENTINEL V2, armed with an energy revolver, was released in 2020.

Following Anderson's death (from natural causes), his wife, Elena Madres, took over as CEO. Unlike her husband, Elena did not seek open warfare; she sought quiet control. Under her leadership, MEOO created the PARASITE (2025)—an infiltration unit capable of crawling across ceilings and through ducts—and initiated Project Mother, a central AI designed to control all MEOO machines as a single collective mind.

VAC-AC

Founded in 2015 by Luiz Smith, VAC-AC is MEOO’s technology partner. While MEOO provides the hardware, VAC-AC supplies the software and psychological control. Luiz Smith believes the human mind is a problem to be fixed.

VAC-AC operates out of "The Brain," a windowless white building where civilians are taken for forced re-education—a lobotomy process that erases rebellious thoughts. Additionally , VAC-AC created VPCs (NPCs), humanoid robots that blend into the population, learn behavioral patterns, and use whatever weapons they find.

The Resistance

In response to the dominance of MEOO and VAC-AC, a group of survivors united to fight the system. They lack an army, but they possess heart and strategy.

The Resistance is led by Elliot Smith, a former accountant who leaked VAC-AC documents and was forced to go on the run. Elliot is a calm strategist, yet he bears a heavy burden: Luiz Smith, the CEO of VAC-AC, is his father.

Elliot is not alone. By his side are:

Alvaro, his right-hand man. A silent fighter clad in a black suit, wearing a split mask—half white and smiling to deceive, half black and sad to kill. He is cold, direct, and carries an AK-47.

Kendrick, the Resistance’s loyal friend and source of comic relief. A former driver who lost his brother to VAC-AC, he never lost his sense of humor.

DOG-G, a robotic dog built from the wreckage of V1 and V2 SENTINELs. Loyal to Elliot, he symbolizes the Resistance's ability to turn enemy technology into protection.

Old Man Gears, the grumpy mechanic who keeps the vehicles and DOG-G running.

Vevo-Enterprise, an electronics company that secretly supplies radios, computers, and the Microwave Rifle (an EMP weapon that fries MEOO and VAC-AC robots without harming humans). Vevo was founded by former MEOO engineers who left the company in 2014 when Anderson Madres shifted its focus to warfare.

The Resistance does not fight against a single enemy. It fights against an entire system:

The Administrators, bureaucrats who control the law and the media.

MEOO, which supplies the war machines.

VAC-AC, which seeks to erase rebellious thoughts from the human mind.

And, amidst it all, the Resistance's greatest secret: Elliot Smith is fighting against his own father.
