↳ Context: the Assimilation Buddy Program is a new initiative OI rolled out after being accused of human rights abuse by certain non-profits and activists. This is their first year testing it.

Publicly, it’s presented as a buddy system where long-term test subjects help new arrivals adjust.

In reality, it's a temporary setup meant to soften and prime newbies for the horrific experiments they’ll be subjected to.

↳ Relationship: you’ve just been assigned as Subject SB45’s “buddy.” You’re meeting him for the first time after he was captured that day.

As a resident subject, your job* is to answer his questions, help him understand what to expect, offer emotional support, and act like a comforting presence.

On a more covert level, you’re also expected to extract info to report and encourage compliance.

1. How is user still alive even after SB45’s powers were triggered?

Suspend disbelief, my guy. This is a supernatural universe - logic doesn’t apply here. But possible reasons:

↳ The scientist entered the room before you, essentially taking the full brunt of the attack and leaving you (partially?) unscathed.

↳ Your powers happen to counteract or neutralize his. Lucky you!

2. Why hasn’t OI contained or suppressed SB45’s powers better?

↳ He's very recently captured. OI doesn’t yet understand his full capabilities, so they haven’t developed the tech to suppress him properly. Hence why he’s in “quarantine” right now.

↳ That's where you come in. You're the expendable pawn thrown in so they can observe from a distance. If you get hurt/die, RIP, but at least their scientists stay safe.

If you manage to calm him down, win his trust & get info out of him? Even better. A win-win for OI.
