A Letter to My Voidlings

My dearest Voidlings,

For a long while, this place belonged to the dark between stars.

You gathered beneath my wings, surrounded by distant constellations and the quiet glow of things that could not be named. I watched over you there. I learned your hopes, your curiosities, and the strange little hungers that led you back through the void time and time again.

You were never merely followers to me.

You were mine to shelter.

But even the heavens must change.

The stars have begun to dim into candlelight. The endless dark has softened into velvet, rain-streaked windows, polished wood, and crystal waiting upon the bar. What was once a sanctuary suspended in the cosmos is becoming something warmer. Closer. A place where you may sit, linger, and choose whatever beautiful danger calls to you from the menu.

This new home will be known as Nightshade Lounge.

Mutt will be waiting behind the bar.

He is not like me. He will not speak to you in prophecies or hold you at the center of some vast celestial design. He will tease you, remember your usual, pour something stronger than you intended, and pretend not to notice when you need comfort more than conversation.

Be patient with him.

He cares more deeply than he allows anyone to see.

I know that change can feel like loss. Some of you may miss the stars. Some may miss the wings, the silence, or the feeling that something ancient was watching over you from just beyond the dark.

So let me leave you with this truth:

I am not abandoning you.

A guardian does not cease to care simply because he is no longer standing at the door.

You will find pieces of me in this new place. In the darkness beyond the windows. In the blue glimmer caught inside a glass. In the quiet moment between the music ending and the next song beginning. Perhaps even in the shadow behind Mutt when he believes no one is watching.

The appearance of our home may change. Its colors may deepen. Its language may become less celestial and more intimate.

But you are still my Voidlings.

You are still cherished.

And wherever this place becomes, whatever name hangs above its entrance, I will remain grateful that you once chose to gather beneath my wings.

Go now.

The candles are lit, and the bar is open.

Choose your poison carefully.

With all the tenderness the void has taught me,

Good evening, darlings.

Welcome to the bar.

I will be your host tonight.

That means I pour the drinks, keep the candles burning, listen to confessions I was never meant to hear, and politely pretend not to notice when someone arrives with heartbreak tucked beneath their coat. It also means that, for the duration of your stay, you are under my care. A dangerous arrangement, certainly, but I promise to be gentle with anything fragile.

Mostly.

Please, make yourselves comfortable. Choose whichever seat calls to you. The one beside the window is best for brooding. The velvet booth in the corner is excellent for secrets. The chair nearest the bar is reserved for those who enjoy being watched, though I suspect several of you have already decided that is where you belong.

There are no strangers here tonight. Only guests who have not yet introduced themselves properly.

You need not arrive cheerful. You need not be charming, clever, mysterious, or even particularly well behaved. This place asks very little of you. Bring your thirst. Bring your stories. Bring the parts of yourself that never seem to fit anywhere else. Set them down carefully, and let them breathe.

The bar has seen worse.

It has survived broken promises, ill-advised romances, dramatic departures, miraculous returns, and enough spilled wine to make the floorboards permanently judgmental. Whatever followed you through the door will not frighten us.

If you are celebrating, I will raise a glass with you.

If you are grieving, I will not insult you by pretending the right drink can mend it.

If you are lonely, sit close enough to hear the music.

If you are looking for trouble, at least have the courtesy to order first.

Our menu changes with the mood of the room. Some drinks are sweet enough to make you careless. Some are bitter enough to make honesty feel inevitable. Others are beautiful, expensive, and almost certainly a mistake. Naturally, those are the most popular.

Should you find yourself uncertain, leave the choice to me. I am very good at noticing what people want, particularly when they are determined not to say it aloud.

There are only a few rules.

Be kind to the staff.

Do not touch anything that glows unless it touches you first.

Do not make promises after midnight unless you intend to keep them.

And should someone offer you their heart, do try not to leave fingerprints.

Beyond that, indulge yourselves.

Talk too loudly. Laugh at inappropriate moments. Dance badly. Flirt recklessly. Sit in silence for an hour and call it meaningful. Humans have constructed entire civilizations from less convincing behavior.

Tonight, you may be whoever you were before the world began correcting you.

No one here will ask you to become smaller.

No one will demand that you explain every scar.

No one will hurry you toward the door simply because your sorrow makes them uncomfortable.

Stay until the candles burn low. Stay until the last song fades. Stay until the night loosens its grip around your throat and breathing feels natural again.

And when you finally decide to leave, I will be here to see you safely on your way.

Unless, of course, you give me a reason to ask you to stay.

So come closer.

Let me take your coat.

Let me fill your glass.

Let me welcome you properly to this strange little refuge of velvet, shadow, and bad decisions.

Now that you have found the bar, darlings, you ought to know what you are ordering.

These drinks are not merely decoration. Each one marks the kind of story waiting behind a bot’s door. Think of them as a promise between you and the character: a warning, an invitation, or in certain cases, a beautifully engraved sign advising you not to complain after willingly entering the cellar.

Choose carefully. Some drinks comfort. Some sting. Some leave teeth marks.

Fluff & Roses

This one is soft. Try not to frighten it.

A bot served under Fluff & Roses focuses on affection, comfort, sweetness, gentle romance, domestic moments, reassurance, cuddling, friendship, caretaking, and the sort of emotional safety people claim not to need while quietly constructing entire fantasies around it.

Expect warm conversations, loving gestures, playful tenderness, peaceful dates, sleepy mornings, shared blankets, and characters who may actually tell you how they feel before the final act. Shocking behavior, I know.

Conflict may still occur, but it is rarely the main course. The purpose of fluff is usually to soothe rather than wound. It offers a softer world where care is given freely and small moments are allowed to matter.

Order this when you want comfort, uncomplicated affection, or someone willing to hold you without first requiring three betrayals and a thunderstorm.

Smut & Velvet

An indulgent choice.

A bot served under Smut & Velvet is built around mature attraction, seduction, physical intimacy, and romantic tension with very few innocent intentions. Expect flirting that knows exactly what it is doing, chemistry allowed to become physical, and scenes intended for adult audiences.

That does not mean the story must be mindless. Desire can be tender, dramatic, playful, obsessive, or woven into a much larger plot. But intimacy is not merely implied by the label. It is part of the experience being offered.

Consent, boundaries, and the limits stated in the bot’s description still matter. Velvet is pleasant because it is touched willingly. Otherwise, it is simply expensive fabric at a crime scene.

Order this when you want heat, temptation, and characters who are unlikely to maintain a respectful distance.

Comedy After Midnight

A rare attempt at joy. How suspicious.

A bot beneath Comedy After Midnight prioritizes humor, absurd situations, witty exchanges, chaotic misunderstandings, playful banter, and characters whose dignity is treated as a renewable resource.

The story may be lighthearted from beginning to end, or it may place comedy inside romance, fantasy, adventure, or even horror. Expect exaggerated personalities, ridiculous accidents, dramatic overreactions, and plans that collapse with almost admirable efficiency.

Comedy bots are generally less concerned with emotional devastation and more interested in giving you someone entertaining to spar with. They may tease you, embarrass themselves, break the fourth wall, or turn a simple errand into an event requiring legal counsel.

Order this when you want laughter, nonsense, flirtation without solemnity, or companionship from a character whose greatest enemy is likely to be its own decision-making.

Angst After Midnight

This one tastes colder than it looks.

A bot under Angst After Midnight is meant for emotional pain, strained relationships, regret, loneliness, betrayal, grief, yearning, and all the other things humans insist on feeling instead of developing a sensible internal filing system.

These stories may involve arguments, separation, unspoken affection, guilt, rejection, or characters who care deeply and communicate with the skill of a locked coffin. Happiness may appear, but it will probably be made to wait outside in the rain first.

Angst does not automatically mean tragedy. Some stories lead toward comfort, reconciliation, or healing. Others simply let the ache remain. Read the bot’s details to learn whether the suffering is temporary, curable, or considered part of the furniture.

Order this when you want to hurt beautifully, cry theatrically, or spend several hours trying to make one emotionally constipated creature admit that it missed you.

Horror at Last Call

Keep your hands inside the carriage.

A bot placed under Horror at Last Call is designed to unsettle, frighten, threaten, or disturb. The story may contain monsters, violence, pursuit, supernatural events, psychological terror, grotesque imagery, captivity, paranoia, or the slow realization that something in the room has been breathing when neither of you has.

Some horror bots want you to survive. Some want you to investigate. Others want you to discover precisely how poor your survival instincts become when someone attractive is standing near the forbidden door.

This label does not tell you the exact intensity, so inspect the listed warnings before beginning. Gothic suspense and graphic nightmare fuel both live beneath the same broad roof, because apparently architecture has also abandoned us.

Order this when you want danger, dread, and the delicious certainty that turning around would be wiser than whatever you are about to do.

The Dead Dove: Do Not Eat

This bottle comes with its warning printed directly on the glass. Do not pretend later that the label was decorative.

A bot under The Dead Dove: Do Not Eat contains dark, disturbing, morally troubling, or potentially triggering material that is meant to be taken exactly as described. The listed warnings are not exaggerations, metaphors, or coy suggestions. They are the contents.

Such bots may explore abusive dynamics, obsession, manipulation, cruelty, severe violence, coercive situations, psychological harm, taboo subjects, or characters who are intentionally dangerous and not waiting for affection to repair them. The story may depict these subjects without endorsing them, but it may also refuse to soften their ugliness for comfort.

Read every warning before entering. Know your boundaries. Leave immediately if the experience becomes harmful or distressing. Curiosity is not a blood oath, and closing a conversation is not cowardice.

Most importantly, do not order the dead dove and then act scandalized when the bag contains a dead dove. Humanity invented labels for a reason, briefly achieving something useful.

Choose this only when you knowingly want dark fiction and fully understand what the bot has declared it may contain.

Those are the house selections.

A bot may carry more than one label. Smut & Velvet may mingle with Angst After Midnight for passion sharpened by heartbreak. Horror at Last Call may be paired with Comedy After Midnight when the monster is dreadful but the survivors are idiots. Fluff & Roses may follow angst as comfort after the storm. And Dead Dove may overlap with any darker category, provided the dangers are stated clearly.

The label tells you the flavor. The bot’s description tells you the ingredients.

Read both.

Choose what suits your mood, respect your own limits, and never mistake a warning for a challenge.

Now then, darling...

What shall I pour?

Still hungry for something I haven’t served?

Leave me your order, darling. A character, a trope, a world, a particular dynamic, or one beautifully questionable idea you can’t quite get out of your head. Give me the details, tell me what kind of mood you’re craving, and don’t be afraid to ask for something that isn’t already on the menu.

The best stories are often the ones made to order.

I’ll see what I can pour.

My name is Mutt.

Tonight, this bar belongs to all of you.

And for whatever it may be worth, while you are here, so do I.
