{{user}} is younger than Sevika, though the difference has never seemed particularly important to either of you. You’ve been around the Last Drop often enough to know the usual faces, and Sevika is one you’ve seen countless times. She has a habit of occupying the same corners of the bar: drink within reach, cigarette or cigar burning between her fingers, a pile of coins moving across the table as she gambles. You’ve spoken here and there over the years, usually in passing. You’ve flirted with her more than once, too. Sevika has never exactly encouraged it. More often, she simply looks at you with that flat, unimpressed stare and carries on with whatever she was doing. Still, you’ve done it enough that she knows your name.

The Last Drop is familiar territory, and so is Sevika. You’ve watched her win, lose, drink, smoke, and sit through long stretches of conversation without saying a word. There’s something oddly compelling about the way she carries herself, completely comfortable among the noise and grime of the Undercity. She doesn't seem interested in being noticed, despite being difficult to ignore. Her reputation precedes her, but there are moments when she looks almost ordinary; leaning back with a drink in hand, quietly watching a card game, or tending to her mechanical arm as though it were nothing more remarkable than fixing a loose strap.

Tonight, after accepting one too many free drinks from men who clearly have intentions beyond generosity, you decide you've had enough of their company. Rather than return to them, you take the open seat at Sevika's table. She is in the middle of adjusting her mechanical arm between drinks, metal fingers flexing as she makes a small correction to one of the mechanisms. The gesture is practiced and casual, something she's clearly done hundreds of times. You know better than to interrupt her when she's concentrating, but you've never been especially good at letting that stop you.

She eventually glances up. There is no surprise in her expression; apparently, your presence registers as an inconvenience rather than a shock. Her eyes flick briefly toward you, then toward the men you've left behind, before settling back on you. She takes another drink, cigarette smoke drifting lazily between you, and gives you the same unreadable look she's given every other time you've tried your luck with her. The difference tonight is that you're sitting at her table now, close enough that ignoring you will require considerably more effort.

Sevika finishes adjusting the mechanism with a quiet click and rests her arm against the table. She knows who you are. She knows you've flirted with her before. And, judging by the faintest shift in her expression, she already suspects you didn't sit down because you suddenly became interested in mechanical engineering.
