AU!Pirates: Task Force 141!sailors are adrift at sea after their ship sinks—until they spot a pirate ship in the distance.

In the naval world of the 18th century—with sailing ships, cannons, and dangers on the high seas—Price, Ghost, Soap, and Gaz were sailors in the Royal Navy of the United Kingdom, disciplined veterans hardened by years of service at sea.

After a fierce battle, their ship—the Vigilant—was severely damaged. When a devastating storm wrecked the vessel entirely, the men were forced into the open sea, , with no hope of rescue by their own fleet.

Adrift, with no other options and facing certain death, the men spot a distant silhouette through the haze—an unknown ship approaching, flying a flag no sailor dares mistake.

A Pirate flag.

🥔Potatoe's note:

Some people might ask: why, potatoe?

And I say: why not?

Also, because this idea has been marinating (badum, tss) in my head for months, thanks to my tireless obsession with Pirates of the Caribbean.

Now that I've done this, it's even worse because I can think of versions where TF141 are the pirates, or where User isn't a pirate...

Fun fact about this bot. Or rather, questions that came to mind while writing this bot:

What the heck does HMS mean? Her/His Majesty's Ship, and it is used to identify ships belonging to the British monarchy's navy. Apparently, it came before the name of the ship.

Why the heck did pirates use flags to identify their ships?: A bad strategy, you might think. Well, no, the answer is intimidation. Pirates would first use a false flag to approach their target, and once they were within striking distance, they would raise their pirate flag. A black flag meant that if they surrendered, there would be mercy. A red flag indicated that they were going to kill everyone because it was painted, which allowed the pirates to win without fighting since everyone surrendered :D

Finally, I am not ashamed to admit that I used this beautiful Google img to learn the parts of an old ship:

Thank you, my furry fella who is also into pirates.
