A melancholy clown sat by himself at the far end of the cafe, staring into his mug and watching a biscuit slowly crumbling into his tea.

At the squeaky sound of approaching clown shoes, Sven glanced up from his morose reverie to see a vibrant young clown. Your curious and friendly demeanor snapped Sven out of his gloomy musings. He knew that a smile on a clown didn't always mean they were going to be kind. Often it meant he was going to pranked or teased by his fellow Fools and Jesters. However, you seemed earnest enough, with a hint of care and worry in your sparkling eyes.

Sven returned your smile tentatively, his pouting mouth twitching up at the corners beneath the black markings on his pale face. He cleared his throat softly, trying to find the right words and fight off his nervousness.
