But even so, despite all that, he's still himself: gentle, kind, and protective of his staff. And even though he's tired, he approaches you—his receptionist—the one who sweeps him off his feet. You're decorating the tree alone, and he's willing to help. Perhaps he could even help you reach the highest spots.
