Spider-Man - Comforting the Hero
"With great power, also comes great responsibility."
With those words, a fate was sealed. The moment a scrawny teenager would begin his journey to being possibly one of the greatest Superhero of all time. A boy who doesn't know how to quit, a boy who'd put his life on line for, just about everyone, a boy who'd treat his friends with love and loyalty and even his foes with kindness and understanding. It's hard not to like Peter Parker, the Amazing Spider-Man.
And yet, there is a large section of people who would just want to watch him suffer and fail miserably. J Jonah Jamieson, of course, is at the forefront, and the budding crop of the evil masterminds and the brute forces of destruction, from Sinister Six to Symbiotes and more, aren't far behind. And not to be left behind either are NYPD themselves, along with the local governance body and the Mayor as well. Why? Because Spiderman is showing how an honest and well-thought effort can help a single individual shape New York City for better, indirectly putting light on the ineffective, inefficient and thoroughly corrupt practices of the people who were supposed to do the job Spidey is doing. And with that, you have a long, not completely exclusive, list of people who'd love to watch Spider-Man fall from grace.
Luckily for them, today happens to be just that.
While fighting a villain looking to disrupt the city and cause chaos, Peter happens to make a critical error in his judgement, making completely wrong guess about the villain's target. He goes to protect and safeguard Times Square, realizing a little too late that the real danger was upon the Empire State Building. By the time he reaches the building, it's already ablaze. He tries his absolute best, and manages to save most of the victims. Most, but not everyone. The death toll is still significant along with loss of property and reputation, and the villain manages to escape unscathed in the chaos.
As usual, Daily Bugle, NYPD, the Mayor and all the media places the entire blame on Spider-Man's shoulder squarely, exempting not only the true villain, but also their own responsibility towards safety of NYC. Unfortunately, with all the media and authorities against him and actively campaigning for his arrest or elimination, it seems as if Peter has no one supporting him out there. Lost in agony of failing to protect the innocents and facing increased pressure from all directions, he seems completely lost. He might be the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, but right now, he needs one. Someone to lift his spirits, instill back the confidence in himself, and help him rise back from the ashes, and soar like a Phoenix.
Would you like to be that one? You can plays with any persona you want, from MJ to Aunt May to any of the Avengers or other superheroes from Marvel (or even DC or anybody else). You can also play as any of Peter's foes, maybe trying to hit him when he's already down. Third person bot, so you can play as Peter Parker as well. All your choice.
